Sukumar's transition has been phenomenal after he was deputed to work onsite. He has improved tremendously on the business knowledge, communication skills and being more assertive in discussions. He is an extremely critical resource whose performance has been exemplary and highly respected by DB Business, IT and offshore team. He takes tremendous ownership of the deliverables. He needs to focus on this people management skills which would enable him to move to next level.
Somehow i don't aggree that i was phenomenal only after i was deputed to onsite. I think it is visible to the higher management due to the fact that i got more opportunities/challenges to display what i am capable of.
For the last 3 days (bank holiday weekend), i was fully engaged in reading the "Ponniyin Selvan". I know this is a legend novel from Kalki but i never knew that it will take full three days (day & night). I didn't go out at all for the last three, just locked myself in my bedroom.
I was so impressed & thrilled at each stage of the novel and not able to put down the book. It helped me to visualize the wealthy tamilnadu and the heroes during the 10th century. Current Location:London
02:36 pm - HCL Excellence award Today i came to know that i have been awarded with a HCL Excellence award for the Jan 2007 to Mar 2007 Quarter. I was not aware that my manager nominated my name for this award.
Though it was really really very hectic life for me for the last 4 months (from Christmas time 2006 to till now), i never thought of the awards and all...! So it's a bit surprise for me...!
I've got Best Performer award twice in HCL but now it's a Excellence award so it's definitely a very cheerful moment for me...!
More than the award, the reason said for justifying why the it's awarded, is really satisfying me.
Here is the sentence that's mentioned in the HCL Excellence award email:
Awarded for achieving customer satisfaction, work ethic and displaying flexibility by stretching beyond role to ensure delivery in aggressive time schedules Current Location:London Current Mood: excited
03:21 pm - First Trimester is over Today i've been to the hospital with my wife for her scan appointment.
First trimester period is almost complete and we both delighted to see the baby (fetus) in the monitor during the scan. The doctor showed us the baby heart beat which is really very very fast.
Most of the organs including arms, hands, fingers, feet are fully formed. During the scan, the baby was moving it's hand and making fist with it's fingers. The action looked like it is moving the hands and taking the finger into the mouth. I checked the same and it was very joyful moments.
We also collected 1 scan photo snap. We will show it to the baby in future when it raises the question of what it was doing inside mummies tummy. Current Location:London Current Mood: calm
10:03 am - Zimbra Collaboration Suite ZCS is a very promising Collboration Suite software based on open source. It fully utliizes the AJAX (Web 2.0 ?) and provides very rich interactive UI.
The mashup applications based on Zimlets are very interesting from the developer point of view.
10:24 am - Syllable! It's almost round the clock for many days... on the work! No wonder it's the case with most of the people in the industry...!
Hope i'll be taking some rest on weekend and do some learning/tweaking based on my own interest...!
Today i have read one article about Syllable OS in newsforge. After the success and the robust & full featured program applications on Linux, i wondered, how come the geeks are venturing into developing an Operating System ?
It's known that very aggresive/massive software development is happening on all the fields all over the world and nowadays i'm seeing lot of buzzwords like Web2.0, Mash-ups which are used in the Internet Websites. I always thought that, most of the people are into research & development of applications which are Web based Rich/Quick Responsive UI along with user centric web content (Software AS Services).
Suddenly when i heard about a community which is venturing into development of new Operating System (it's not linux), i'm sure i'm marveled. Current Mood: drained
11:13 am - Flickr & PHP Very Nice Whitepaper here on success on Flickr as Web2.0 site with LAMP.
Very cool to know one developer, one designer for a site like this. That developer at Flickr would have gained lot of knowledge & experience by now...! It's a massive effor but looks very simple.
09:56 am My HR has organised for a family get-together on last sat 05th Aug 2006. It was a decent crowd around 50 plus people have participated in it.
The venue - Barking Park is very close to my house. They have planned for many games to attract housewifes and childrens. For the gentleman's, guesss, it's 12 over Cricket Match.
I bowled two overs (got two wickets) to realise that my back is not (never been) fit. :-( My Opponent team has scored 61 runs. We had a very good start (2 balls, 2 duck outs). Then the so called middle order? batsman studied the pitch?? (what is there to study ??) and took us quickly to fiftees..!
Then we had quick wickets (Sapan [14], Prasad, Prashanth and Ayyappa [31]). Finaly it was neck to neck and pressure has suddenly built-up...! It all came down to 2 balls 2 runs to win...!
Very pressurised moment bcoz i was walking towards pitch to bat with the heavy backpain...! :-( I understood the situation very well bcoz there is no other option :-) If i don't hit, i know i will be beaten-up by my team..! :-(
I made the winning runs by hitting the ball to fence...! wow!!! gr8....!
Then it was followed by a heavy lunch and lot of soft-games...! We played Housie and few more games including lahoree (7 stones) till 6' O Clock.
Initially i thought the volunteers are having trouble with managing the 50 plus people, at then end, it was very fun and a nice get-together party!
Check out the small video clip in which i captured the cheating by my friend Sapan on Rajma picking game.
